Dedicated to the abolition of animal exploitation and suffering

Georgia Animal Rights and Protection (GARP) is a 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to the abolition of animal exploitation and suffering.

GARP focuses on educating the public about the abuse and cruelty that is inherent in the use of animals for food, entertainment, research and fashion.

Who we are

GARP became a 501c3 organization in 2007 – founded by a handful of local activists who believed Georgia would benefit from an organized, cohesive animal rights group. Over the years the GARP membership has grown to nearly 3,000 members.

GARP’s efforts focus on animal used for entertainment, factory farming, hunting, fur, vivisection and Georgia animal cruelty laws.

Setting up information tables at events, leafleting, demonstrating, lobbying for stronger anti-cruelty legislation, and speaking to the public through the media are some of the tools GARP utilizes in order to educate the public.

GARP also holds general meetings, hands-on volunteer days, compassionate social events, and maintains an active Facebook and e-mail list to keep members connected and informed about what’s happening in animal rights in Georgia and around the world.

“We must fight against the spirit of unconscious cruelty with which we treat the animals. Animals suffer as much as we do. True humanity does not allow us to impose such sufferings on them. It is our duty to make the whole world recognize it. Until we extend our circle of compassion to all living things, humanity will not find peace.”
