About Us
Georgia Animal Rights and Protection (GARP) is a 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to the abolition of animal exploitation and suffering. GARP focuses on educating the public about the abuse and cruelty that is inherent in the use of animals for food, entertainment, research and fashion.
GARP began in 2003 by a handful of local activists who believed Georgia would benefit from an organized, cohesive animal rights group. Over the years the GARP membership has grown to more than 700 members.
GARP’s efforts focus on animal used for entertainment, factory farming, hunting, fur, vivisection and Georgia animal cruelty laws. Setting up information tables at events, making school presentations, leafleting, demonstrating, lobbying for stronger anti-cruelty legislation and speaking to the public through the media are some of the tools GARP utilizes in order to educate the public.
GARP holds monthly meetings, social events and maintains an active e-mail list to keep members connected and informed on what’s happening in Georgia.
